Best format for email subject lines?

I know Becc spoke about finding a happy medium between balancing creativity and click-bait. Any advice?

Great question Dominique! So the three goals of a subject line from my perspective are: 1. Get an email open 2. Avoid hitting the SPAM filter and 3. Not be click bait, but relate the title to the content.  Anyone can get an email open with "Free puppies" inside, but then prospects get upset and feel dooped if the content isn't about Free puppies.... The sweet spot is 3-4 word subject lines.  After 4 words, the open-rate goes down with each additional word.  Less than 3 words looks like spam.  So anything you can get creative with in the 3-4 word zone.

What my company does is all lower-case, question mark within context, & under 4-5 words to grab attention. It has worked really well so far and most reps use it.
