How to Get Anyone to Talk to You on the Phone

Introducing Mentorship Master Class #1 Presented by #GirlsClub!

Whether you’re making sales calls, interview requests, or selling your friends on going to Padre for Spring Break, people decide in the first 10 seconds how they feel about you and if they will stay on the call. As you can imagine, call introductions are a critical skill in sales and sadly one most new reps get wrong.

Hear Digital Sales Training Expert Lauren Bailey talk about the mistakes we often make and how to fix them so you can intrigue – and keep – anyone you call talking to you.

Click "RSVP" on the right to register for the webinar. Contact us at mentorship@bravado.co with any questions. See you there!

Falling into sales?

Most people in Tech sales did not start out expecting to be in sales and did not major in 'sales' in college. I started my career in the deep tech end and have worked over to the customer interfacing side over several years. More important than anything is finding a job you like that can support the lifestyle you want and will give you multiple paths to success. As canned as it sounds, you really don't know how you will feel in a year let alone 10+.

"Falling into sales" typically happens the same way: someone moves into a "customer facing role" because they like talking with people and don't even realize that means sales; inside/outside/customer service/etc. - it's all sales.

I confidently strode, accidentally, into the world of sales.

My plan was to become an International DJ.

My Parents plan was that I was not going to sleep all day and party all night.

I went to the local job centre, got a job in Telesales that day.  Selling fish (of all things).

I got into Tech again by accident.

No such thing as a "sales degree" anyway!

Sales is an intersection of sales, marketing, communication, psychology, customer service, relationship management, and time management. It attracts fascinating people.

I started in tech support too and they hand-picked me for their first B2B sales team because I was the least afraid to talk to other people ...

I'm having trouble connecting with my mentee

This person has agreed to meet and no-showed to our invite/hasn't responded to follow up emails/social messages.

Bravado--can you advise? I'm sure they are busy but it is frustrating when I carve out time that they agree to to meet, and then the individual no-shows.

I'm having the same issue. I've reached out to my mentee twice with availability and Zoom conference info, but I've not gotten a response.

As a mentee, I'd like to add my time at the Bravado Mentorship Program to my resume. What should I write in?

I've used a line from one of the Bravado content pieces: "Bravado Mentorship offers undergraduates and junior sellers an opportunity to learn about the sales industry and role, and how to launch their careers with gusto."

I think you can go into further detail with it. Perhaps include a vague overview of who your mentor is, an example bullet point being:
-Mentored by a Sales Director at xyz company focusing on developing skills around x, x, and x.

This is fantastic! PS - I would really like the chance to nominate a mentor. There are lots of people that do not know about Bravado yet in Houston, and I'd like the opportunity to nominate some top notch sales leaders to become a mentor.
