What are the best practices for linkedin messaging

Personalized sure but would love some good examples of how people are using linkedin messages. Are you directing people back to emails that haven't been looked at? Are you keeping it short and sweet?

I usually overlook the messages in LinkedIn as they're usually templated. You need to go more personal and send a video message instead so its more engaging then just a message.
