There’s a danger in focusing only on what we want out of life.
There’s a danger in focusing only on what we want out of life. Especially when we're young, still a little lost, we’re going through a difficult transition.
Before you assume I’m going to focus on the negative, let me explain 👇
Sometimes in life, we aren’t really sure what we want.
Maybe we haven’t figured it out yet.
Or maybe we're at one of those inflection points where everything is changing.
Sometimes knowing what we want is overwhelming.
Too big to wrap our minds around.
And feeling like we should know it is too stressful.
During those times, the best thing we can do is to recognize what we don’t want.
If you’re going through this right now here’s an exercise that can help.
✍️ Get out a piece of paper and a pen and start writing two lists.
1️⃣ First, write down what things, ideas, activities, and people make you feel alive, energize you, and help you be a better version of yourself.
2️⃣ Second, write down what things, ideas, activities, and people drain you, make you feel worse about yourself, turn you into a worse version of yourself.
Keep building this list overtime. Adding to it with a new idea or realization comes to mind.
In no time at all, you will feel a sense of direction and purpose.
Tell me, what feeds you?
