Was it right to land up into the sales field directly after your Engineering degree in Computer Science?

While prospecting and coming up on the call, No matter how value adding proposal you deliver people usually underestimate you because you are a newbie in the industry.

I completed a Software Engineer degree and I realized I didn't want to be a coder or programmer.  I'm interested in product development, and sales of such product.
I just turned 50 and as a women in IT, adding sales to my field will be beneficial.

In my sales training class for my first company (~30 people nationally), I was the only one with a business degree. Most people were engineers, and they ended up being phenomenal reps for us. Moral of the story, the degree type does not matter.

I was a Film and Digital Media major with minor in Theater.  Now I am a Sales Engineer!  With your training in tech and your soon to be experience in sales, Sales Engineering may be the perfect role for you.  “Careers are a jungle gym, not a ladder.”
