You never get promoted, but you are paid $100k base for the rest of your career and an appropriate commission structure based on the role you choose.


Do you hop into a closing role forever, or do you kick back and hunt like a BDR for the rest of your days? Or, do you hop over to the dark side and build sick content that attracts dope demand gen funnels and makes all of the sales teams really happy?

LOL I considered putting BDR. If its the same pay, you can get a lot more of your time back in a BDR role. It's much easier and requires a lot less work.

Build hella good content and rule all reps from the dark side. 

But seriously, since I've been in a sales rep's shoes, I'd probably relate well to them, and listen to them more than a normal marketing person does (in my experience) with things like "that's not on our content calendar" or "we're just really going to pump some dollars into our new SEO campaign to get you some good leads this quarter."

I think it's also good to get into roles that have a lot of friction typically to understand how you can improve the process between the two teams. This was similar for me moving into Sales Ops from a BDR - Manager - AE role and then finally into Enablement. It gave me a really good picture of how all teams operate and also is a great skillset to take to other companies or to utilize professionally.

I said AE but I think once I stacked up enough commission I'd be tempted to relax into a lower commission, lower stress role like AE.

I would be tempted to stay at my current role as an AE. Territory is half the North Island of NZ so get to visit heaps of nice places. 


Endless funnel of building activity, all I do is to meet and greet new people and teach them our products and pass them off to the inside sales team who do the rest.
