Another interview, another pass. In today's version of "Shep shakes his head" I was in an interview and I asked "how many of your AEs made quote?" their response? 11%.

The gap between base and commission OTE was nearly 4x.

Am I way off here that this is absolutely bonkers? I feel like I need a shower.

I would have drilled them. Why do you think that is? Do you believe it is a lag or oversight in your talents abilities? Where does quota accountability lie more, in the individual or direct report managers?

That is just a very scary number, and to share it so openly is a little jarring if they didn't have a well-planned retort to that number.

the only reason attainment is that low is because it is an incredibly unrealistic quota and you will never hit OTE. no other explanation is needed. It isn't your concern to teach them how to do their jobs.
