2 W2's - killing this shit

Sup gang,

Been a while since I've posted, 8-9 months to be exact since I went on WarRoom hiatus. Also almost 9 months since I've held down 2 full time W9s selling IT services. Shit is crazy. Turned off my LinkedIn and been making 205k combined base salary since then. My life has changed so much and I'm so glad I pulled the trigger. There's no reason you couldn't do this either. Having a couple margs right now and reflecting on the journey, figured I'd go on a tipsy WarRoom ramble. At one company I'm a enterprise SDR, the other managed services consultant. Society will tell you "Have 1 job" "Fully commit" etc etc. But honestly fuck that, work for yourself, not the employer. Just get the job done and there's no reason they should question you, and if they do, deal with it when the time comes. I'll probably never have 1 job ever again lol. That's my post, just be writing into my WarRoom journal for the fam.

It can indeed be stressful, but has taught me to compartmentalize more.

How long do you legitimately think you can sustain this?

Maybe a couple more months Iโ€™m not sure. Im trying to make it to SKO end of July. Each month Iโ€™m still doing it has surprised me. Originally I just had both cause I wanted to weigh which one to keep, but then I thought oh the two checks is nice and it kept going. I think Iโ€™ll probably drop the SDR job cause the volume is hard to keep up with the other strategic job. I think the only way to do it, IMO, is maybe one heavy volume job, could be consultative and then the other like sales ops or something low visibility. But ya itโ€™s been 9 months, Iโ€™ll prob just ride the wave until I get canned from one of em.

Appreciate an honest response here because this is kinda what I figured. I dont think anyone can pull this off and stay happy for more than a year or so.ย

Good on you for trying. I hope your saving and living the lifestyle of just 1 job because when you do drop one of them thats a significant hit to your income.ย

But, I do 6-7 hours for the strategic one and maybe a hour or two for the SDR role. Def neglecting the SDR role and metrics have dropped. Iโ€™m just lucky to have made it this far probably.

Devil's advocate: if you went all in on one could you earn the same or more? Wondering if splitting time and attention means you're not maximizing comp plan at either.

If the comp plans actually paid out then yes. But Sdr OTE is about 125 ish, MS specialist was 500 OTE but then private equity bought company fucked things up and I havenโ€™t made any commission despite closing 1.5 million. I guess just been getting burned by shitty companies that donโ€™t honor comp plans. Prob cause Iโ€™m not typical SaaS. We see what happens.

& yes, I have two laptops, conflicting schedules, one company has a office where i go in at free will, and the other has no office. Prob 10 meetings every day minimum.ย

That is cool and all but you are literally working two jobs. You aren't exactly coming up. 10 meetings every day minimum?! Are you working 40 hours a week or more?ย

45-50 hours. Idk about you but going doubling my income is a come up for me. Most meetings are touch points, project/SOW reviews. The point is - if you can have another income and get away with it then why not. I have a buddy who is a SA at two companies doing 500k. Iโ€™m not in SaaS sales either, I think most people here are. Iโ€™m in managed services - different beast.

I try to keep doses low since obviously I donโ€™t wanna be too much of a crack head. 10 mg instant release 2-3 times a day depending on work load.

Good for you bro. My two cents though: there are a lot of people talking about this kinda thing. Working 2 jobs and/or on the flip side, 4 day work weeks. These will never work for typical SaaS account executives. Almost anybody would underperform their quota and get fired, IMO
