The entire sales org I was a part of was unceremoniously let go Dec '21. I got an interim job with an old employer running a business development team.
I got tired of spinning my wheels with this company and decided to test the job market. I got an interview with for a SaaS AE position in a Series D startup with around 300 employees. They are rebuilding their entire sales team and have brought in new leadership.
I went through 4 interviews with them, with each interviewer expressing how much they liked me and my experience. The final interview was with the Global Head of Sales. He has been at the company for 6 weeks and explained that he didn't know what the next step of the interview process was but that I should be getting an email from the sales recruiter by early the next week to set up a mock demo. (they have been very responsive and on top of scheduling thus far)
That was the last I heard from anyone at this company. It's been nearly 2 weeks since that last interview. I've sent 3x emails to the Sales recruiter, 1 email to the hiring manager that interviewed me a couple weeks back, and left 1 voicemail with him.
I understand this is a competitive industry and new candidates can appear and bump you from contention however I found this to be incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional.
My question is this:
- What would make a company do this? Is it possible they are organizing their team and waiting to schedule mock demos after deciding on final candidates? How would you handle this on my end? How long would you continue to follow up?
