A Question for VP's

Running a persona refresh (email specific) with my team and trying to find good differentiation points between director and VP level.

Agnostic of industry, we believe directors care about how a solution a) impacts their team, b) saves them / their team time, c) how disruptive it is to their existing workflow, and d) how it makes their lives easier, etc.

If the C-suite cares about how the bottom line of the business is impacted over any user interface type of discussion...where does that leave VPs?

any / all feedback welcomed.

C Level cares about bottom line, and directs VPs to fix any holes. VPs come up with the business plans and delegate the more granular evaluations to the Directors.

To sell to the VP, you need to explain how your product not only solves the technical criteria the Director came up with, but how it addresses the business pain the VP is tasked with solving.

They are the same, just communicated differently.

The Board - Ships Owners

CEO/President - Responsible person (figurehead, largely ceremonial, VP Manager) sets the destination of the ship.

VP - Point the direction of the ship, and say any stops needed to get to the destination. Sets the budgets with board/ceo blessing.

Director - Figures out the route, how best to allocate resources to make it to the final destination. Mostly strategy based.

Managers - Day to Day solving of the tasks to accomplish the above goals.

I like your explanation much better than mine. The ship analogy is great, going to use that moving forward.
