A stranger ever use your name as a reference?

HR contacted me yesterday saying someone used me as a reference and they weren't picked for the AE position. Odd cause the person I did reference, HR never contacted me about them lol.


Has this ever happened to you? What would you do?


I tried finding the person on LI but couldn't find them. Weird stuff.

If someone ever used my name as a reference and I didn't know them then I'm making up a whole damn backstory.

It would be full of mystery, intrigue, betrayal and redemption....then at the very end I'd switch the name and wait for them to correct me and be like "oh wait, did you say Josh? I thought you said Jim....oh no, I don't know a Josh. Sorry."

TBH sounds like HR just made a whoopsie with a file, which NEVER happens...

I thought HR had made a mistake too but she said that person deliberately wrote my name when they applied. I wanted to give this person a piece of my mind but then paused... wasn't sure if this was a regular thing to do in the sales world ๐Ÿ˜…ย
