About to get laid off in the next hour

Along with 25% of the staff because the company lost it's biggest contract (which wasn't my account). Also the only one in sales getting laid off despite being the most tenured and also the only person that brought in any new revenue next year.

Worth pushing back on and seeing if they'll let me stay so that I can buy myself some time?

I’d see if you can get more severance so you have $$$ while you find another gig.

Yeah I wouldn't want to be where I'm not wanted or valued.

Are you familiar with the sunk-cost fallacy? Your last sentence is an example of it. Staying there could prevent you from finding a gig where you make more money and are more fulfilled (if that's possible in sales).

I'm so sorry.

Were you able to negotiate a good severance package?

You can try, but maybe also push for more severance. Sounds like there are some idiots at the top if you are the one on the chopping block.

Thats tough, if you don't believe in the company you might as well start looking, but doesnt hurt to have a paycheck while you look. Good luck!

Depends on if you *want* to stay or not. You can argue for a PIP, but you need to decide (and fast) if that's something you'd want to undertake.

If the pay is worth it, the push back may be. There could also be something else beyond sales that influenced it

if the company is going under whatever sweat equity you have put in already don't mean anything. unfortunate as that is true.

It's like a relationship. I understood this the hard way. If they want to let you go - why would you want to convince them about your worth ?

Choose another firm. Not worth buying time either.

If it was me, I'd push back. Only to give me time to find another job and then tell them to go fuck themselves.

However, don't beg, make sure they know you aren't going to beg. Use logic to make them see why you're the wrong person to lay off, and then when you end up leaving, and they ask why remind them of this time.

You should buy time if you can. But at this point since I’m late to the party what’s done is done. How did it go?

I'd seek extended severance and strong recommendation letters.

You want who wants you - if you're easy to let go of to them, go find someone who will see that in you and won't let go of you. Best of luck

Negotiate whatever severance you can (shoot for 4 months and accept 2 if they push back) - they are trying to cut all costs wrap it up to dump it. Much of the VC world is just trying to maximize their own paydays and reaping the outcome of their own mismanagement by laying off the frontline people. Good luck out there

Sorry to hear it! I would suggest asking some of your closest coworkers/direct manager to write you a recommendation somewhere on the internet. Good luck and wishing you the best.
