Account Manager Salary Insight

Got my promotion letter today and wanted to know if my comp is fair and standard for an Account Manager.

Current BDR Comp - 72k Base - 103k OTE

AM Comp - 78k Base - 129k OTE

Located near the SF Bay Area(Not in the city)

Now, I'll be doing SMB/Mid Market renewals and that's really all I know so far, but I wanted to get your thoughts on whether this is acceptable for a first-time AM?

Also FWIW, existing business is doing far better than new business.

Appreciate the insight!

I'm clueless when it comes to comp for AM. However, I wish you the best of luck with the new position and congrats again!

$6k salary bump and a $26k OTE bump. that's ok, especially based on the fact you're only having to sell current clients the benefits of not kicking your product out. So it should be relatively easy to hit your numbers if you (1) are in a good company & (2) your solution is decent/ providing value.

That doesn't look too bad to me.

Disclaimer: no real background with this. That seems decent and is a tidy little bump.

That seems pretty in line with what we offer

For SMB I think its in the range. I would check repvue what is says on your company since you are hired internally, which usually means they dont pay you as much.

Congrats on the promotion but do a little research specific to your company to see if there is a chance to negotiate

We have another rep in Texas that's making a bit less(Which sucks), but overall, there are not a lot of AMs and the ones who are are across EMEA/APAC, so kinda hard to get a gauge of standard comp.

At the end of the day, it's a nice bump, sounds promising, and if you are happy with it, that's important.

Congratulations on your promotion!

Looks to be fair for an AM role

From BDR to AM I went from 60k base to 75K base (obviously the OTE went up DRASTICALLY) but I thought I would share since I did a similar jump. In the Midwest here so the pricing may be off but it seems that you're in the right ballpark. Make sure the comp plan is targeted towards growth and doing the right thing for the account and not over pushing product just because you have a quota.

Appreciate the insight! Yeah, clarity on how to achieve your commission is super important.

Have a bunch of meeting scheduled this and next week for onboarding and to get clarity on it.

My best advice is find out what the board/revenue executives determine as their key metric of growth. Is it just flat dollars or are there other components? Once you know what the more singular items that the higher ups care about you can tailor your Account Review and introductory meetings and introduce yourself honestly about the need to understand and if possible increase that metric.

I wasted a lot of time getting general awareness of an account only to have my management not care about anything but one point of data and if I can accurately forecast it with reasoning - so now I go straight for that from my clients and cut down on a lot of BS.

Hope it helps, newer AM here and just feeling like I'm figuring out the true role, hoping I can help you skip some bumps I had.

I have a few friends in AM roles, this seems relatively on track with what they are currently making

Sounds nice to me but I also don't have west coast bills to pay.

Having just gotten out of recruiting I'd say thats a little light but not horribly light. For San Fran it seems lighter than it should though..? Remote that wouldnt be crazy.

Oh yeah, 100% remote. No way I'd accept this if I had to commute to SF. I'll be leaving CA altogether next year anyway.

Copying and pasting old comments on every one of my old post is going to ruin any credibility you have on this platform.
