Account Ownership

I'm newer to my company, about 6 months in, and have a set list of 20 greenfield accounts (all global software companies with 5B+ in revenue) that are all HQ'd out of the SF Bay Area.

As I've been building pipe I've been working with some teams in India and others on the east coast. Once I started some PoC's my opp's got routed to a rep in APAC and NY and was told by my company that the local AE's typically work deals and I would need to submit a write up as to why I should get a 50/50 split.

Does any other company do something like that???

This is weird; especially if you are working such a tight group of large accounts. One would think you should own the relationship entirely given the HQ location. The logic your company is taking here doesnโ€™t make sense to meย

Yikes. Tough break. I've never heard of anything like this before. Hope it gets sorted!

Yes unfortunately. For example, I work with the F 10, many of which have local offices in other countries. Although I own the account, and ultimately decisions are made here, the local teams in the other countries for whatever reason get brought in whenever a contact is outside the US. They add no value, we end up in a deal split, and I still do all the work.ย

Weird. Yeah generally if youโ€™re assigned accounts they wouldnโ€™t let territorial reps hinder that. They should have put consideration into it before assigning them to you

If it's a named account to you then it's yours. What am I missing?
