Advice for cold LinkedIn Intros

Hi All,

Anyone have any advice for a cold intro message on LinkedIn? I have a prospect who is on my target list, I've not connected with the guy and I have a reason for them to buy, but I'm not sure how to go about starting the conversation out of nowhere.

Thanks in advance,

Kermy

Send nothing canned.ย

This is a general rule, but especially on LinkedIn.ย

My biggest success on cold LinkedIn intros is just going in super basic and say you would like to expand your reach in the area and want to know if they can help by connecting.ย  Once you are connections, you can build a relationship by interacting on posts and eventually when the time is right you can work on getting into a deal.ย

Also, I have had ZERO percent success on using any kind of a sales line, even if its organic or genuine, even if it gives them all the power in the conversation.

LinkedIn is tough, as a headhunter we use it constantly. But decision makers are much less likely to check it as often as individual contributors and lower level employees. I primarily use LinkedIn for referrals. Message someone low on the totem pole and try to get referred to an actual decision makerย

Don't open with the full pitch, we all get them and sometimes they make no sense. Just open up with 'can we connect to discuss X' (in it's most simplified form) no worries if not'. Gives them the option.
