Being a pilot sounds cool, so if that is where your true passion lies, I'd go for it.

But as others have said, apply for AE.   You have the title, you've done your share of BDR work, and layoffs are out of your control.  Good luck!

Never. Ever. Ever, take a voluntary step backward in your career.

Also, pilots make bank, and flying is super fun.

I'd say you were an SDR for 3 years too long.

You did your time in that role.  Only go back to it if its the only way to get your foot in a door at company you REALLY want to be at.  And then get it in writing that you get the first AE spot to open up.

100% apply to AE roles.

But if you want to be a pilot, do it. Follow your passions. It's not like being a pilot is a bad job or one that's going away any time soon.

First off, it sounds like you want to be a pilot.  I suggest doing that if that's where your heart is.

My apologies for the layoff, but things happen for a reason, and truthfully - it's going to tough getting a job as an AE.

In your area, there are tech recruiters that will give you direct feedback if they see potential in getting you placed.  Start there.
