ADVICE NEEDED: First things to do as a new SDR in SAAS

I've been an SDR in tech for a while now, but I start in a new SAAS company next week. They treat their employees really well, seems like a place I could be for a while and I want to make the most out of the relatively quiet training period that I'm going to have by meeting as many current employees as possible.

If you were in my shoes, who would you focus on getting to know first?

I'm in a new city so I need people I can be friends with, and people who will give me the info I need to earn a lot of commission - who should I be focussing on?

Trick question; all 3 are important relationships!

Firstly, congratulations on the new gig, and best of luck.

If your goal is to orient yourself in the org, I would go to the manager first. You'll want them to know you and advocate for you. In the 1:1, i'd probably discuss:
- Working styles, incl. how you like receiving feedback
- What made their most successful reports successful
- Who to network with in the org, incl. "What do you think is an important question I should ask them in order to be sucessful?"
- "Unwritten rules"

If you need friends, probably not your manager/many managers. Could be perceived as brown nosing

(disclosure: Personally, I leave and join roles for managers. I'm of the opinion that managers have outsized impact on your development and making you shine (or break your career))
