Advice: Working with….older less tech savvy people.

I am at my wits end. I work on a small team of 4, including my superior. My other 2 counterparts are a bit older and have never been forced to learn newer technology. not even excel.

Our boss is newer, and also younger than both of them so maybe this plays into it. Everytime one of them complains about not knowing how to do something, I am forced to take it on simply because I know how to do it.

I've tried teaching them, they don't want to learn. they're like 1 year from retirement so they give no fucks. I literally just got asked today to do something for one of their clients that they can easily do, so that "HQ is only getting contacted by one person".

currently seeing red and wanting to respond with something PC so this stops...

Have you talked about it with your boss? If anything, maybe you could make an argument that you need a raise if you're going to continue doing other people's work. I'd also be curious what the plan is going to be after they retire, will they hire replacements? Could you get an intern until then to learn the ropes and help with the workload?

I haven’t. I’m in a weird spot. I also interviewed for the boss role when my old, amazing boss got promoted and it was between me and this guy. They told me I only didn’t get it because I wasn’t willing to move where our office was, and he lived there. A month later they sold our office and everything is remote. He also had the VP of Sales pushing for him. I was 100% more qualified. Our company is in automotive and we don’t give raises (shitty I know), and our team doesn’t get an intern so unfortunately there’s no winning there.

At a certain point you have to say no unless they start paying you for carrying the team.
