Had over a dozen managers at one job - literally about a manager/ year. Of those managers, most were benign or good, one was very good, and one was phenomenal. One terrible skip level manager spoiled a lot of it, though. Recent job, another phenomenal manager. They are out there.

Oh - phenomenal means there’s a level of trust they have in you, no micromanagement, and a willingness to both be creative and eliminate hurdles. Love that kind of manager.

I’m about even but in my experience, most companies have no idea about the sales function or what it takes for their sales people to be successful.
I look at the CEO, if they’re from a sales background, it’ll help me as a sales leader. I don’t even consider working at a company if their CEO is from an accounting or finance background.

This is probably the best thing I've heard.

I recently talked to a company that has been bought by a PE firm. The firm is actually hiring experienced sales people to run their sales team. They tossed out the old C suite leader and put someone new in place. They are even introducing sales processes and strategies for acquiring market share.

I heard this and was like, yeah, that sounds nice.
