Another rep getting caught trying to work two SaaS jobs on my team.. What is going on!

Second time this has happened in a year. I always thought this new rep was a bit sketchy by the work he was doing everyday (faking calls). But he finally got caught!

What is with people? Doesn't anyone have any integrity? Or am i the mark and should I be trying to work two SaaS jobs hahah!

Over-employed is a real thing, I canโ€™t believe people do it in sales since LinkedIn would give it away

I once had a team mate that worked for another company that sold into the same personas in the same industry. He was flat out killing it because he had access to two different CRMs and knew who was using what and who was evaluating what. Not sure it was legal, but they def made it work.

That's not conflict of interest? Or was other company in completely different field?

Crazy times. I usually see this in the SWE world but occasionally i'll see/hear something about someone working two sales gigs.

Being an AE or an SDR especially requires so much time and attention, how do they manage it, is the question.

I bet the one who got caught, won't be able to answer this now. But still...

LT Sadness last summer has a nice daily post. Seems like itโ€™s unsustainable for more than a month

I recently stumbled upon the Sub-Reddit of โ€œOver-Employedโ€ - itโ€™s really fascinating. Basically, the message is: when youโ€™re an exceptional employee, you get more money by working two average performances than one great. Especially, because most companies wonโ€™t pay you double if you output double (e.g. as a SWE).

But also common understanding in this sub is that sales is one of the few jobs where it does NOT make sense, as your pay is linear to your performance.

Imagine your daily metrics hahah working two sales jobs... Alright I gotta make 50 calls, 30 personalized prospecting emails, oh I also have 5 disco calls today between my two jobs and two virtual work happy hours at the same time.

Ok, I worked with one of the best AE's of all time. At one time, he worked for 7 Mfgs at the same time. Tech products all non-competitve products. If anything, complimentary products. All 7 companys found out. 2 fired him. 1 made him take a 50% salary cut, the other 4 kept paying him as if nothing transpired. If you work remotely, I could not see someone not getting away with it continuously. Separate phones laptops, and you could have 1 linkedin profile with everything you'd normally put on it, w/no employers listed & no work history. Saw a profile like that today!

My job at a small growth stage private company is like 4 jobs. I donโ€™t know how people do itโ€ฆ..plus it ruins your reputation.

The world is smaller than you think.

"Maybe it's time to add โ€˜SaaS job jugglerโ€™ to the job description! ๐Ÿ˜‚ But seriously, I didnโ€™t know โ€˜faking callsโ€™ was a skill setโ€”guess some people are just overachievers in all the wrong ways!"

I canโ€™t imagine having to sell 2 products and do it well. How long was he there before he got caught?

I was hired at a really good start up about 4 months ago for a SDR role that I was told I wouldnโ€™t be in for very long. Theyโ€™re gonna go public in the next year, but Zoom Info reached out to me about an Account exec position. Now Iโ€™m wondering if I should take the guaranteed route to AE or let my shares vest and get to AE at the place that took me. Usually I wouldnโ€™t consider jumping so quickly, but AE is AE.

Has massive growth ever led to mental breakdown? I have been hustling since 17 years old chasing to strive for success doing odd jobs and unintentionally ended up with Edtech K12 Sales as my first official sales job - A toxic culture with no employee respect eventually me to switch after 18 months. Since reps in Edtech are highly valued, had no option but to continue in Edtech sales. This time it was higher education segment, things looked good in the first few month but slowly it started adapting methodologies like the old Edtech since the management was changed. I decided to move out and switch to B2B SaaS. After 13 months of learning & success, my aspirations werenโ€™t matching with the growth vision shared by my manager and ended up being desperate to switch. Got to a AM-Inside Sales role with a 50% hike. Guess what? It led to my mental break down since the culture is pathetic. In entire journey, all challenges never affected my performance but l am losing the spark to glow and hustle eventually. While I plan to switch, a token of guilt is still alive. The experiences have made me far better and strong as a BDR but blank about the next steps in my career. Thanks for reading. Do share your thoughts.

When a new company that just hired you performs a background check on previous job roles, do they know if you got fired? Or the extent of it? Or they just check to make sure you worked the dates you say you worked?
