Any Advice on Getting new BDRs Up to Speed Quicker?

We will be onboarding quite a few new BDRs here in the next month or two, so does anyone have advice on how they would go about getting them all up to speed quickly? Currently a very high performing team, but with growth and current BDRs moving on to AE roles, I want to make sure that the lull in performance is kept to a minimum.

Get us on the phones as quick as possible with a simple script. Have us watch you on a cold calling session for like and hour, then shadow us and feedback. One of my biggest problems I ran into was paralysis by analysis where I was doing all the training and taking lots of time to learn the product, but I just wasn't getting out of the gate fast and dialling.

I would have been better off being chucked in the deep end with a simple script and having some leads to call.

A big part of it as well for me personally is the need to see it done before, If I feel like i'm dong this for the first time at the company it can be a bit daunting, but if I see others doing it and succeeding it helps to shape the mindset a lot.

Hope this helps.

Have your current BDRs start writing down the date and time of call recordings they think will be beneficial to a new rep.   Good calls, bad calls, calls where they should have pushed just a little harder for that third no, calls where common objections come up and they are able to overcome them, any other scenario they, either wish they would have heard before they started pounding the phones.

It's important to make sure you include some calls that they may have screwed up or could have done better.

Then take a couple of hours and review them as a team, with the new reps and the old.   Have the old rep walk everyone through the call, little background on the prospect.  This will accomplish has a number of benefits but here are a few.

1.  Quicker onboarding.
2.  Allow the new people to see that even the seasoned reps still, sometimes, make mistakes but that they are also able to overcome them, stay positive and still be successful.
3.  This will also help the current reps learn and grow.
4.  It will immediately help build relationships within the team.  Creates a sense of trust, we are all in this together.

Good luck!
