Any luck negotiating pay?

I feel like when I’ve asked my fellow savages, they always tell me that they get turned down and usually they're just told that everyone at each level gets paid the same base and that if they want to get higher pay then they can do so by hitting their quotas and then hitting accelerators. Which obviously, I get the sentiment but lets be real, quotas are designed to be *just* about doable within an average month/quarter .

My question is, twofold, when negotiating do you push for a higher base? Or do you try to work something out on your OTE?

Second, is negotiating pay a pipe dream for internal promos and something you can only really achieve when company hoppin?

In my experience it always works out better if you try and negotiate your base.

Base is usually easier than OTE.  After that, negotiate shares, cliffs, unrecoverable draw for first quarter, ramping, etc.  There are multiple things to negotiate if you have a good track record and they want you.

I always look for higher base because automatically my variable is % of my base so increasing this increases that. I always have an offer with me incase the conversation gets ugly.
