Any reccomendations of great places to work? Fully Remote, SDR, High Attainment, SAAS, 150+employees, Clear AE track

I'm trying to interview with the best companies for me. I have a few in the pipe but looking to strategically add more. I had to turn down a few great ones because they were hybrid, Hashicorp, Salesforce, Lacework.

Also thinking if I should just go straight to the AE jump instead, really not looking forward to another year as an SDR and feel confident enough to make the jump. My previous experience is in the RevOps space, I'm looking for something similar or to get into AI, Cybertech, Cloud based companies. I have a few interviews with each and plenty I had to DQ myself for bad fit.

Any rec's would be appreciated. God I wish we had a DM feature

As I said I'm looking for something solid I could grow in with clear guidelines for promotion, good attainment, anything but a series A, and preferably management that's done the job in the past 5 years.

Senior AE Mid Market
This is my list so far based on talking with reps, Glassdoor, Repvue, and Compgauge (I’m looking for companies that have 60% or more hitting quota, so take my list with a grain of salt)

Things im thinking through now as im looking to make a change:
- who you’ll sell to (marketing budget seems to get cut first, so I don’t want to sell to marketing leaders. Sales leaders, CFO’s, or CTO’s seem to have more flexibility? I might be wrong.
- make sure the product is somewhat “weatherproof.” Things that are absolutely essentially and core to running the business (typically tied to revenue) seem to do better when headwinds come.

That said, here’s the list (I tried to exclude early stage startups, sorry if I missed some). Vet these yourself:

Hubspot
Sprout Social
ZenDesk
Clari
Drift
Gong (listen, I know I know but reps there are doing well from what others have shared. It’s also closely tied to revenue. Gong money is still money!)
New Relic
Podium
Klaviyo
CrowdStrike
Arctic Wolf
Paulo Alto Networks
MongoDB
Flexport
Samsara
Okta

With Deel - they just told me last week they're SMB AE's just filled up. I'm going for their MM role now. SMB seems like the ticket though (higher closing rates and attainment in that segment compared to MM, faster cycles, SERIOUS accelerators after 100% attainment - top reps seem to be doubling their OTE. But always good to ask actual tenured reps there to make sure the facts are straight).

Captivate IQ - I finished my mock demo/discovery interview with them last week. They provide feedback quickly and I've loved everyone I've met...just from early comp talks they have the highest competitive offer to (which is good because compensation is in their DNA as a company). They're very high on my list right now.

Let me know if I can help with anything.

Thanks for the insight, makes sense why I didn't get a response for SMB. About to submit my homework for Captivate, really hoping it pulls through, they are at the top of my list too. I'm considering applying for Junior AE roles now however instead of SDR roles after one of my last interviews ended in me being questioned for being overqualified and why I don't become an AE lol

That's awesome that they thought you were overqualified. I'm seeing "Associate Account Executive" on some job postings but it's few and far between so not sure how much luck you would have there. If you're getting that feedback or feel overqualified, go for SMB AE! The companies that are looking for aptitude > previous closing experience are the companies to look for anyway.

Mind sharing what company told you that?

That said, you probably already have but look at CrowdStrike SMB AE. I hit it off with the SMB recruiter and can refer you if that'd help (I think they're still hiring).

That or Emerging AE role at Clari - I don't know anyone there but it could be a solid next step comparable to SMB (If what I've read and heard about them is true, the fact they have Emerging AE's tells me they're into development & equipping new hires & they look for aptitude).

Finished my final round with CaptivateIQ, will hear back on Monday or Tuesday.

that company that said I would be overqualified is ScaleAI, they moved me onto the next round but it's a fuck ton of homework not sure if I should take it, they pretty much want me to say what their ICP is, find 3 target accounts, a person, write a cold email, write 5 questions to ask to determine pains, then do a mock cold call to close a meeting... I'm like, do you want me to book a meeting too? ffs.

I'm definetly going to look into crowdstrike and clari, I accepted an AE position today but I really just needed any position to pay the bills, It's with a stealth company so not sure how it will go, I'm gonna ride it out lowkey while continuing interviewing and try to get a higher base/ote at another company and by then should have an idea if I actually want to stay at that company or not. unfortunately it's just what I have to do to pay the bills right now.

Would love a referall if you can find me on linkedin, me and coups are connected if you are with her idk

Goodluck with your final with captivate! I just finished my 4th with them too and they brought up the objection that their manager saw me start as an sdr at another company in the past but I hadn't mentioned that and wanted to know why and why it wasn't on my resume, I handled it the best I could, telling them what happened and why I wouldn't want it on my resume. I had several strong interviews so hopefully it doesn't hurt me too bad but I could see if they wouldn't move forward

Are you super super firm on the 100% remote?

Recently went from totally remote to hybrid and honestly… I like it better.
Totally a personal decision, but I truly missed the collaboration and I definitely learn WAY more on the in office days with the team.
Also gives me a chance to show off a bit.

From what I’ve seen a lot of SMB/MM AE’s are hybrid.

Some things to consider.
Just one dude’s opinion.

Firm as a stubborn bull in Taurus season. lol but yeah, I live nowhere near a metropolis anymore and not open to relocating or putting myself at risk of covid, I had it earlier this year and my significant other was sick with it for over a month in terrible condition. never want to put her through that again. thought I was going to lose her

Don’t work there so idk if the competition is stiff but everytime I see Crowdstrike’s smb AE role on LI, the requirements just mention “1 year of cold-calling” and not much on closing exp. Possibly a good one to look into for cyber

One of my close friends got an SMB AE role there without having any previous closing experience. Definitely worth looking into if you're wanting to jump straight into an AE role

Gitlab back in 2020. Chilling in Thailand right now working as a BDR.

They changed the structure and now expect 2.5 years in seat as SDR/BDR before SMB AE, it's a joke in my opinion.

I got in beforehand so I got lucky, but no longer recommending GItlab for SDR BDR

Strong company in the Testing Inspection and Certification space-been around since 1890’s. Work with most major fortune companies across verticals as well as smb and startups as the services and products are related to safety, security, and sustainability on the product and organizational level. From my experience most AE and Sr sales roles are remote. May be synergy for you.
