Anyone Started a role remotely during COVID?

I'm responsible for onboarding new reps, and believe I do it well (i really care about it), but only ever receive positive feedback in follow up surveys about it. I think the positive feedback is based on me & the team as people, and the fact that it's a small business and not the actual experience.

Curious from anyone who has started remotely - was your experience positive or negative and why?

I started remotely in a new role 6 weeks ago. Most of my colleagues work outside the US so I will always be remote.

My experience was positive, but Iโ€™ve also been remote already for a year at my last job so I have my routine.

Some must haves for new employees would be making sure they know where to go for help, both to self serve and to contact someone. You also want to acknowledge any challenges youโ€™ve seen others have, and how they overcame.

We also use the donut app in slack to help people get to know one another remotely. This has been huge in helping me connect to othersย

Yep, started remotely for a firm based on the west coast, whilst im in England. They had the sessions and plan pre made before I joined. Was seamless. Topics and coaches thought out. I ended up 160% of target in 8 months instead of 12

Started a role at a new company in August, been remote ever since. The experience was great, as my managers were and still are there every step of the way if you need it. They did their best to keep the onboarding process as engaging as possible even if it meant sitting on a zoom call for hours at a time. Hardest part about it was learning a new industry and product by myself and not in the office setting, where you get submerged in it all day long. Overall though, the managers cared about the process and ensuring that new hires have everything needed to succeed in the role further on down the line. It was a great experience for what it was, being remote and all.ย

It surely does, and within 7 months, I moved into a Senior role. So goes to show there passion for training the new hires paid off. As long as you put forth the effort and show that you actually care about them succeeding with your company, then it should be a pleasant experience!ย

Yup! Based in Nz Auckland fully remote company started in December last year :).

It's a mixed bag! I like working from home and the routine it brings, I sometimes miss the hustle and bustle of a sales floor. But i'm definitely happy in my role.ย

Started working remotely this year, being new to the industry, it was really overwhelming in the initial weeks. But I guess having good managers/team members who are there to motivate, makes it easier. But managers can only do much, you gotta keep a positive attitude. I was afraid that I won't be able to learn as I'm not physically in office, but it's working pretty good for now.ย
