Any Thoughts on Video Application?

Hello Everyone,

As I am actively looking for new opportunities for a entry level position as a SDR, I was wondering if I should be sending video applications as I reach out to recruiters or even management of the company.

What do you guys think? Should I give it a shot to stand from rest of candidates?

Should it be generic or personalized for each company?

if you are going to send a video it should not be generic.

I like the idea of doing something different and standing out.

I would make it as specific to why you would be a great fit to work at that company or with that leader.

Let us know how it works out if you do it.

I'm a Hiring Manager for SDRs. Do it. Makes you stand out from the crowd, firstly. Then, your comm skills, personality, body language, connect can be gauged from the video - making the lives of the hiring team a bit better. And everyone likes their lives a bit better.

Pro Tip: Keep it under 60 seconds. Even recruiters and HMs are attention deficit today.

I'm not a fan of videos in general. Good luck.

Short, personalized, and fun. If it's just your staring into the webcam reading your resume it's not worth it. Don't have be Stevie Speilberg or Corporate bro level, but inject some personality.

it could be a good way to stand out in the process.

personally, I would never do it. I don't have the creativity to do it. But if you do, more power to you.

Just don't half ass it. Its definitely the kind of thing that could make them disqualify you before you even get a conversation if you say/do something in it they don't like.

I would also try to keep it like 30 seconds - 1 minute long. Don't want to bore them or over share.

But that's just my 2 cents, whatever that's worth to you
