Depends on the convo, and day of the week...ice breaker today I use would be is Friday eve. Another one is when they ask how can I make your day better or what can I do to help you today I will say well if you have the winning lotto numbers that would be great!ย

Suppose you're doing webinars through zoom, or teams, etc. First, start with your camera off.ย Then, when your prospect joins the call, tell them that you're going to turn on your camera.ย Then say, "Before I do so, I must warn you, I look exactly like Brad Pitt.ย It's uncanny".
Then turn your camera on and have a magazine up with Brad Pitt's face on it.ย Then put it next to your face and be like, "See?! How crazy is that?"

I laugh pretty easily and am pretty jolly on my calls (not excessively). Usually if i laugh at jokes or things they say, they start laughing at stuff i say.ย
Remixing something they laughed at before is an easy chuckle and great rapport (demonstrates engagement & active listening)

Self deprecating humour works for me! My go to joke however is one about the pronunciation of my name. In sales, it pays to have a weird sounding name. Btw my name irl isnt 34fifty.

You have to be yourself. If you are a natural at making people laughโฆ lean into it. If not, donโt force it.ย
I agree. Iโm good at making certain people laugh my humor is pretty dark, so I try not to use it in the calls too much. Every now and then I do get a laugh but I have to make extra sure itโs the right joke for the right person.ย

Its more important to be authentic then to be funny. If youโre funny it will just happen naturally through the course of talking to each other.
Forcing it is the worst - i know tons of talented reps who are not funny at all, at least not with customers.

I feel like it's a bit different for females... I literally always go to a hair reference. If I get a "how are you today/hows it going" etc. I always throw out a "Well it's finally a good hair day so I'm golden!" or, in rain I go with something like "Glad you're catching me now because by EOD my hair will be bigger than Mrs. Frizzle's" blah blah blah.ย

You can never go wrong laughing at yourself.ย Or even making an attempt at a funny comment during your cold intro... something like, "I know you didn't wake up this morning and get all ready to take a call from a random salesperson but..."ย ย
I laugh at myself all the time, sadly most of the prospects donโt laugh with me but I still have a blast!ย

deprecating but genuine, or as close as you can get. eg. when people ask how i am at the beginning of a call ill say something like "better than i deserve". works like a charm.ย
