Anyone here a Head/Director of Partnerships?

Right now I'm a BDR, but I'm really wanting to do more at my company. If the CEO is open to it, I was thinking of spending a bit of my time trying to cultivate partnerships with companies that complement what we do. I have ideas for which companies could be a good fit, and if it worked, I'm pretty sure anything that came of it would go towards my quota. But I don't really know what a partnership might entail. Does anyone have any advice or rotten tomatoes for me?
