I buy actual gold, either the coins, or an ounce depending on my savings. I also buy actual silver.

With gold there is not really a good price it is bound with market rate. That said you can buy actual gold from pawn shops, jewellery shops can sell you gold coins, and banks maybe too. Or best is other people with jewellery where you can take it and value it at the store and buy it from the owner directly.

Best time to buy is when you have a friend who owns jewlery and wants to sell it I suggest you buy it off from them it's a win win for you both because the jewler will buy with the international rate and may buy with the lowest rate you can buy in the mid range.
