Anyone used Slack Connect yet?

My marketing team is pushing for the sales team to try using Slack Connect as an outbound sales channel. I'm skeptical, but haven't done my due diligence on this yet. We use Slack internally and to communicate with onboarded clients, but never as a cold/warm outbound approach. Anyone have any insights or experience with this?

This sounds pretty intrusive to me. But I guess it really depends on your industry.

So apparently they need to opt in on Slack... not sure what the opt in looks like. If I get more info, I'll update WR.

I have never used Slack so reading about it is helping me learn a little bit about the tool.

As far as I've experienced, it's primarily an internal chat tool. We also use it as comms tool for existing accounts, which is both awesome and terrible. Means clients can reach you more easily than email arguably.

We were expressly forbidden to do it to avoid phishing attempts.

If we try it out, I'll keep WR updated.

We were expressly forbidden to do it to avoid phishing attempts. The latest hack on EA where they exposed this source code for a game engine and a bunch of other data apparently was due to a phishing thing over Slack.

Ah that is a very good point. I don't love the idea, so I might just drag my feet lol.

So how are you slacking outbound prospects?

Currently, we are not, because I think it is a little too direct/unexpected.

In theory, though, if you have their email, and they use Slack, you can do it. According to the geniuses in marketing.

I would much prefer a cold call personally, but I imagine it's just a matter of time until receiving cold slacks is as common as receiving cold emails
