Blow it up
Well I'm not about ready to doxx myself yet, but my old VP of sales was awesome. He came from a finance background and taught me a lot about business. I taught him a lot about our customer base and industry. It was a great relationship.

He's only a year older than me which meant we had some awesome times traveling the world, closing huge deals, and schmoozing VIPs in the wildest of places. He knew perfectly when to turn on "boss" mode and when to be a work buddy, reminded me a lot of the good jr officers I served with. We both had our first kids around the same time too which meant I got to take as much time as I needed, no questions asked.

Unfortunately he got scapegoated by our old management after a bad year, but he's doing well for himself now running his own company in a wildly different industry.

Sounds awesome! Don't need to doxx yourself, but if you could connect me to him, that'd be great! I'm Janardhan Pashupati on LinkedIn :)

This isn't the point of this platform. Have you tried posting this same ask on LinkedIn? Maybe Reddit r/sales?

I have been an individual contributor for a couple of years now, when do you think someone is ready to become a Sales Manager? (any attributes, accomplishments etc. that would recommend you have)

Just got promoted to team lead and my manager is asking me to motivate the team to hit their KPI's. Any tips on this since no one likes the KPI chat, including me.

Is your sales team struggling to hit quota? It's probably the product's fault...
