Are 1099 sales gigs worth it?

Good afternoon sales beasts!

I interviewed this morning for a 1099 account executive position with a marketing company (US based). Would be the first account exec hire (Currently the CEO is doing sales, with several SDRs.Β 

Moved onto round 2, I'm betting because it's harder to find people willing to be 1099. I've never worked a contract sales role, so what are things I need to ask the interviewer? Should I expect a much higher commission structure vs a W2 position since I wouldn't be receiving any benefits? She said it's base plus commission, but wouldn't give specifics as she said she isn't able to.Β 

What are some things I should look out for? And what would make you take a 1099 position?
