Our HR team caught onto it pretty quick and shut it down with threats of firing anyone caught due to labor, tax laws, etc. Would check in with them first since it's pretty easy to see where you are when you're joining calls from or your device management tools.

Pretty sure, as long as you're paying taxes, this isn't an issue. Why would your employer police where you are working? Starbucks vs The Marriot?

No, but it is an option - as long as you can make client meetings when necessary and handle the "hours of operation" based on time zones.
