Are cold emails just a complete waste of time?

If I can't reach the DM by calling I can always find an email somewhere. What happens is that I will spend 5-8 minutes writing a personalized email to the prospect. Time could have been better spent just calling the next prospect on my list and possibly getting a meeting.

Most of them don't read the email and if they do most do not reply.

Does everyone have the same outcomes or do my cold emails just suck?

Nope, I have a good ROI on my cold emails especially in areas where lockdowns and working from home are still prominent.ย

The key is using a template that you can quickly personalize.

A good cold email template works just as well for me. Relevance, pain point and CTA. I then follow up with a call referring to said email. It's yielded decent results.ย

has to be the most powerful weapon in my belt. You have to send them....it's imperative for success today. If you are only relying on the phone, in a remote world, it will be very hard to generate solid leads...nevertheless, always be ready to dial too, but definitely just practice your personalization during your off time. at the end of your day pick out 5-10 theoretical prospects and challenge yourself to write each of them an email within a short timeframe. It's also not about the number of people who aren't seeing your emails, but about the ones that actually do. Personalize in high volumes and success will surely follow!ย

practice makes perfect...it's a cliche for a reason!ย

Be memorable, fuck scalable. If that doesn't work, there may be other variables here to consider.

cold emails are good for the call script when you call after the initial email you send to the prospect

Yeah I'm going to have to agree with most on this, no it is not a waste of time. If you're sending automatic emails and there's no response, then you have to change the messaging, subject line, and content. A/B test it and see what messaging resonates the most. Sahil wrote out a good example a few months ago where it we're trying to connect as humans first.

With emails, just like in a cold call, you have to think what can help your prospect, so try to do the same. Be quick, and try to create quick responses, so some sort of interaction happens. What I've been told is to try to think like you're texting your prospect. Fast quick messaging that resonates and generates discussion.

You will hit more people with emails than calls, you can convey more information in an email than in a quick call, and emails are always there waiting for them. Combined Arms wins the day. Some territories are more call friendly some are more email but relying on one is a recipe for failure.

A personalized email template that has some sense of showing a reason for them to follow up does thia trick. Then its husta bout getting those emails out.

I have actually had some pretty good responses from emails, most of the time people ignore them and they are most likely deleted but on occasion you get a good response from someoneโ€™s who interest

I have the complete opposite experience on this - love spending time on personal emails and book most of my demos that way, on the contrary see less quality outcomes from cold calling but that could also be responsibilities shifting from SDR to AE role.ย

Don't send one-and-done emails and give up, often its the 4th or 5th follow up email that gets the response! stay persistentย

Itโ€™s good to get your name in front of them so if/when you get them on the phone there is a hint of familiarity.

Makes sense to bring it up to management and tell them you feel you're ready to take the next step. Make sure you have proof to back it up - booking good meetings, exceeding quota, helping other SDRs...whatever it may be. Ask what the steps to move into an AE role look like going forward.
