Are recruiters fucking stupid?

What's up sales fam,

I am actively looking for opportunities at this time and have spoken with a bunch of recruiters and have been very frustrated at how incompetent a lot of them are.

From taking 2 fucking weeks to schedule a simple intro call, asking for my resume, and then going completely dark, having to literally remind them about submitting me to the company.

Some of them have been great and very efficient but I have dealt with a lot that are completely incompetent.

We can't mention companies but I've had three recruiters reach out to me from the same company, the second equally or more incompetent than the first, I just ignored the 3rd.

I know recruiters have different incentives depending on whether they are in-house or not and that a lot of the time it is not up to them to make the decision. I am mainly complaining about them not even taking the steps necessary to put you in front of the manager.

In general, are recruiters a bunch of morons?

There's little to no barrier to entry to become a recruiter, and the market is oversaturated to fuck so all they have to compete on is price. Recruitment services are and will continue to be a race to the bottom.

Yes, many are obviously throwing spaghetti noods looking to see what sticks. There are great recruiters out there, just takes a few to weed through em. Don't lose hope.

Also, have you checked out the jobs tab?

Most recruiters have zero idea - they're just bad BDRs masquerading as recruiters.   Sorry it's happening when you're actively looking.   It's easier to make fun of the situation when you're not engaged in a job hunt.

Haha you are right, it was more fun when I was not actively looking lol

Great recruiters are few and far between. The rest are as useful as tits on a boar.

My wife says I talk like an old man. It's safe to assume anyone who grew up in Wyo sounds at least 50 years old.

recruiting firms will hire literally anyone with a pulse and internet access. There are some awesome recruiters out there who do stellar work. There's also a lot of recruiters who are lazy so they do the bare minimum, or just plain bad at it. Similar to how when you buy a car you may have an awesome salesman, or someone who makes the process a nightmare. Both fields have similar qualifications for who they employ.

With the type of work they do they might as well not have a pulse, they'd be just as efficient haha jk. I agree there are a few that do a fantastic job and it is a pleasure to come across them.

As others are saying, good recruiters are great, but there's not a ton of those.

Far too many are as useless as tits on a bull, and it's definitely an oversaturated industry.

Most are, yes. If they had skills and talent they’d be in sales.

They’re not, so that should tell you what you need to know.

you should for sure check out the jobs tab.

also remember recruiters are just sales ppl.......and there are a lot of bad sales ppl out there.

But i do believe recruiters can be a special breed of stupid.

Just be very direct with what you want and move on if they suck.

good luck!

True! The good ones are stigmatized because of the shitty ones haha.

Thank you, will keep looking and interviewing hard!

Yeah I find them annoying. Order takers most of them. The ones that actually know they are in sales do well though

Recruiters only care about themselves and who’s paying them. Keep that in mind and it’ll help as you deal with recruiters.

Have never worked with a recruiter who I felt like did a good job, and had my best interest at heart.

The experience with the recruiter for my current role was probably the worst. Luckily for her I was desperate to get out of my old job… I can’t tell you how many times I had to coach her on what to tell the hiring manager. JFC I’m getting irritated just thinking about it.

This.. great job and although I feel for you friend I’m glad I’m not the only one thinking it. Also, what are you looking for in hiring SDR/Bdr role right now and yes I want a quota smasher but please take that off your resume and LinkedIn
