Are there irregular job titles within sales?

I see some savages on here with unconventional job titles on their profile but could just be to avoid revealing their real title…

BDR / SDR, AE, AM, team lead, sales manager / director / VP, sales engineer, Rev Ops, etc… We’re all familiar with the standards.

What are some of the more irregular job titles you’ve seen within sales?

I know a lot of places get rid of Sales, and just put consultant. So my Title would be Mid Market ERP Consultant, so all these recruiters would message me for Business Analyst roles

I worked sales for an ERP company briefly, and same thing. Title was "consultant" and now I get the same inquiries from recruiters for a job I held for 3 months 3 years ago lol

I was hoping to hear some absurd nonsense. Like, Enterpise Sales Director of SMB… Or, something long and redundant. Associate VP of Inbound Commercial Sales Revenue Growth & Expansion. Ya know what I mean? I don’t know.

Actually, now that you mention it, I saw a sig from a guy who sold websites to boat dealers. “Enterprise Account Executive”

Enterprise Sales Director of SMB is too long. “Cheap Sales Officer” would be better

No real weirdness, but I've seen ISR (Inside Sales Rep), ISS (Inside Sales Specialist), BDE (Business Development Executive - which is a sales rep, not SDR/BDR). More like awkward titles that you can't figure out and aren't simple like "Sales Executive".

I know some guys who don’t even use a title, they just put in “sales” or similar, or nothing at all lol. They just exist in the ether.

Yea especially within the C-Suite...they come up with a helluva of titles for no reason. It's often difficult to discern if a CGO/CCO is sales related bc sometimes they are but sometimes they have nothing to do with budget. Also - Business Development Executives exist. Why? Who fucking knows.

We have one of the weirdest titles for a senior tech sales person… Industry solutions advisor. Now I have seen lots that are self opted titles but we all know those don’t count and those people are worst than the base salary chasers.

My previous SD team didn’t want R. They were specialists. So SDS was born.

I have a colleague that lists himself as “GTM” to avoid a lot of LinkedIn crap. Meanwhile he’s pretty high up there lol.

Oh, what about Chief Client Success Officer or Head of Growth?
Client Solutions Manager is also a trendy one.

Not calling a sales role a sales role = massive red flag. The company can’t even be honest with themselves they hate the profession so much.
