This is a great example of how "values" have shaped the two-party political system as opposed to political and fiscal issues. You're not truly a republican by party platform standards, you're anti-"them" (liberals in your case). Just so happens that others who think like you have aligned to the Republican platform because that was the ticket that was open at the time.

It's easy to start a dumpster fire just by replying to this question but I'll give it a try. I don't care how anyone feels as long as they have a reason for feeling that way. Don't just have a thought because it's a talking point you heard in your echo chamber. A big part of the reason the US has survived as long as it has is because we've been able to balance multiple views and opinions and not let any one side take over entirely. For example, maybe you don't like abortion but you don't have a problem with two guys getting married. Well these days you can't have mixed thoughts. If you are on this side, you must believe everything we believe bar none. Long story short ....unfortunately the media and politicians don't want any type of balance anymore and we are starting to move into sketchy waters.

I'm in Canada and our political parties are terrible - next election I'll likely be voting independent. If I was in the US, I'd be voting Republican. Personally I'm without a doubt right wing, with a dash of libertarianism for good measure. The more the government stays out of my life, the better.

I recently took a political "quiz" and the answer was "we can't help you" lol. I was literally dead center. Definitely fiscal conservative and social liberal. I hate that we can really only choose one side or the other. (yes, I know there are other parties, but they never make any progress to make a difference). I think both sides put their agendas before what's best for the country and its citizens. I'd love to remove political parties altogether. Candidates should run on what they want to do - it would also make people actually research their candidates before voting, instead of just straight party ticket.

Opinions are truly like assholes everyone has one and they stink. I try and steer clear of politics at work because no one shares my views and typically people don't agree with how I view things.
That being said- Republican vs Democrat is a pretty narrow field to view political discourse. At the end of they day they, are two sides of the same coin, albeit with slightly different policies. 'Big' vs 'Small Govt' which is frankly misleading. You trust the Govt with nuclear weapons and the military but not to supply healthcare? I think the differences are embellished to ensure nothing really changes.
Moreover a lot of interaction with politics is getting angry at what you read on your choice of media rather than actually interacting with elected leaders or other citizens.
What I'm not a fan of (and I feel this is universally true) is the inherent corruption and double standards of a majority of leaders. Selling stocks with inside knowledge, taking corporate money and putting their interests forward over an electorate, the list goes on.
It is easy to say 'I don't care' or 'it does not matter' but I don't feel that nihilism serves anyone. Have an opinion but respect other people and don't try to convince anyone to change their mind or ram it down their throat.
