Are you in IT Consulting? What is your Quota?

I'm trying to get an idea of quota for AEs/SEs in technology consulting.

IT consulting is very broad sector - which segment of IT are you asking for? Is it small boutique working with SMEs? Are you agency shooting for funded scaleups? Larger IT consultancy with with corpos? Where does your company fit?

Good question. Boutique consultancy, focused on digital transformation and legacy modernization in SMBs and Enterprise.

For AE - it can differ heavily but create ambitious yet attainable quotas which they can achieve, for commission -  depending on whats in their scope, if they are handed over closed deals and they just need to maintain and grow the business, give them set % for maintaining business and higher progressive % commission on business growth - so they have motivation and drive to grow accounts.

for SE - well again it depends, are leading flowing in? Is your inbound/leadgen efforts rocking the stage? If so then it means your sales reps get warm inbound leads - set twofold quota - first on revenue - which heavily depends on your business size, lead gen results and delivery capacity and second conversion - often times sales reps are chasing lowest hanging fruits to get their very quarter right and drop the ball on some good potential leads.

to sum it up - not sure if anyone has right numerical answer on your question coz it heavily depends on your business’s reality and many more factors. There is no wrong or right quota generally - 1 million or 10 million a quarter both are reasonable but for different companies.

by all means good luck with growing your revenues and sales team! 🚀

FEELINGS- Your commission is annual (ARR) but the customer paid monthly (MRR) and if there is a churn in the next few months, the company will deduct by increasing your quota and taking the equivalent amount $$ from your quota in the next month.
