As a leader do you cold call 📞?

As frontline leader, who still picks up the phone and makes dials? Do you find it effective? if you are an IC, when you see your leader making dials with you is it inspiring or could you care less?

I haven't seen many tbh. There are plenty of LinkedIn "leaders" and "influencers" who were never ICs, but tout the same "Back in my day" and "Reps aren't doing xyz like I used to" when they were a BDR for SFDC back in 2004.
Josh Braun is one example for sure. Last I had a VP try to cold call someone, it was embarrassing since they were like "You never ever ask for permission, it shows weakness, you go straight to the pitch!" and then proceeded to get hung up on and then will make fun of BDRs for doing their job. It's a mixed bag.

I knock on doors.
I stand on the booth at exhibitions.
I get my hands dirty at demonstrations and commissioning (heavy machinery).
I do everything I would ask anyone on my sales team to do and more.

Not many do it. Barely a few. It’s a great exercise but it’s only fair. Sales requires momentum. At times fitting in prospecting during a generally heavy day doesn’t fit right.

Plus they’ve done their fair share of cold calling all their life, they rose up to probably escape that.

This is interesting. I haven't heard much of this. Could be a good strategy to make a plan and your leader reach out if you can't get in. As long as it is communicated beforehand.
