Back to the office or coworking space?

Simple question. Are you back in the office yet? When is the target?

I’m moving into a coworking space on Monday. Cannot wait to get out of my house.

Back to the office?

We are too, but I went to HR and asked for an under the table exemption because of a second baby coming in June. Pulled some strings but worth it.

It's pretty much based on when the employees are comfortable. You can go in now, but they aren't forcing anyone in the office

I like being home, but with another noisemaker joining the house, some private space is needed!

Being in Outside Sales we are an anomaly, in that we can work from home or the office.  I do both.  The admin/support staff need to get back to the office.  I have seen sloppy work, significantly delayed response, and just a lack of responsibilities to the job.  We are requiring them to return to the office full time 6/1.  It's for the best but we expect a 20% turnover due to that. It's easier for people to be told to work from home then get back to the office.  This will be a hard transition for a lot of people.

There's a cultural element to this one for me.  I live and work in Asia.  Specifically in Singapore.  I am building businesses for startups from the ground up, expanding out across the Asia Pacific region.  During years 2-4, this means a distributed team, and some of them insist on offices, some of them don't.  In Singapore (and Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, etc.), office life is needed because generally, folks live in extended family environments, consisting of multiple families in close proximity to, if not on top of, each other.  Working from home for them is a nightmare!  Others require office space to bring clients and to be a "real company!" So usually, this will be coworking space until a certain scale is reached when operational and other supporting staff are also part of my team.

Pre-covid, salespeople in the office really needed to have a good reason to be there.  I'd want to know why they weren't out at client meetings :)

Personally, apart from team meetings and 1-1s, I work from the road.
