I've developed this really bad habit of not closing deals
Is it a solid bad habit or has it been sporadic and picked up like an old baseball mit?

I became very outcome orientated when in discussion. I had a girl tell me this once, I didn't listen to understand her, I listened to respond, and that hit me pretty hard. I did toastmasters to become a better public speaker, did objection handling and cold calling to better helps customers overcome objections, but the irony is I lost the skill to listen without having an objective outcome and to just hold space for another individual.ย
I can see where that could cause some issues in more personal relationships.
i drank so much coffee i had to switch all our coffee to decaff, my sleep is so much better and im down to 2-3 cups a day, before i was at around 6
I switched to tea! Coffee was getting me way too wired and started messing with my stomach.
I had to cut out the coffee and tea. I was getting too wired... now all I drink is water and have an IV drip of energy drinks... that's healthier right?

I can honestly say, this only happened to me once. and never again will I drink a night before having to go to work. it was rough

I see what you did there. But, if you live on the edge like us sales savages, I guess it doesn't matter, it is now DNA.
I realized that my personality and selling, perpetuated my inability to be happy when I win( hit goal, big sale etc. )ย I only felt relief. It was a big thing for me to eventually overcome and made me better once I understood how to be proud of a victory.ย
I'm glad that I played sports. It helped me understand the importance of celebrating the wins and finding the silver lining in the losses. Definitely helped me in the realm of sales.ย

I went into sales to get away from working too much
I've lost the ability to just chill in the moment with my career. In sales we're constantly chasing the deal, the quota, the promotion etc.
I have no idea how to be happy in a job and not look for the next step... really bad habit for the mental health, great for the bank account though!

But how did you find this helping instead of hindering?
I've already had problems with smoking/drinking and honestly don't think sales have made them any worse, I do drink way too much coffee now though. Also definitely have the problem of bringing the "IDGAF" attitude you need for cold calls into my personal life at times.

I now implement professional selling strategies in regular, everyday conversations. While I always get what I want, it almost feels manipulative to pull out the gift of silence on your significant other.

Uhhh took adderall and redbull or a few years and deteriorated my stomach lining and had to switch for coffee to strengthen my stomach lining up

I dislike cold calls with a passion anymore. But it can turn into a slight meh when training someone.ย
I learned to drink thanks to sales and the sales team.ย Never touched a drop of liquor before.ย Then I learned you can throw up from drinking too much.ย Fun times...ย

I actually work less hours in sales than I did before I started working in sales. went from 90+ hours down to 50 max
