BDR/SDR = Sales v Marketing

I see a lot of articles of who people THINK Business/Sales Development reports to... but who do they ACTUALLY report to in your company?


XDR -> Sales

XDR -> Marketing

I actually speak about this a lot. The answer is BOTH.  One Group, Lead Development and qualification should report into marketing, and focus on qualifying and converting marketing generated leads into opps. A second group, Sales Development, should work directly with sales on outbound motions to drive opportunities for sales.  Inbound and outbound skill sets are totally different, then need to be segmented.
