BEARISH on Bravado

Initially joining this community was an effort to continue to learn the craft - create and consume unfiltered politically correct content and make some change doing it (novel idea for engagement) - sounds like fun...Oh and General corp, this dude is pretty fucking cool.

Where are we now?

You got bullies paroling the streams of content - voting you down and calling their buddies to do the same while they get more "commish".

Seems like with all this "post blocking" we will have effectively covered all sales related topics of their liking in about 23 days...NO DUPLICATES!

Bear market ahead of us - now call your buddies officers and put me in bravado probation...

Lol

Please, don't vote or comment "officers", I don't need your mutually benefiting spare change and would hate for you to be accused of commish farming... never that..

Hey @JC10X - thanks for posting this. I take your feedback seriously and agree that it can get a little harsh in here. But with a bunch of sales savages... it kinda comes with the territory.

We are making some structural changes to the WR soon in order to improve these issues. They include:

- Changing with way commission is earned to reward those who create the most value with their content. We want to incentivize our Members to help each other crush quota and do their jobs better.

- Building better search tools to make it obvious when a conversation has already been had...and eventually building an AI solution that will automatically notify you when making a post "Hey this is very similar to these other posts, check them out first?"

I do worry about the feed becoming redundant with the same topics discussed ad nauseum, but I also don't want to create an environment where people are trepidatious before sharing their thoughts or asking a question.

Again, I'm sorry you've had a poor experience here and I hope we can do a better job in future. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and we will take your feedback seriously.

Thank you @sahil , its my pleasure. I know how important engagement is, your team has done a wonderful job creating a system for it and yes I totally agree, if you create the same redundant posts, people will not want to consume, and if people get turned off from creating them, then there won't be much to consume - that was the whole point.

Not to worry, I've been around sales savages for over 10 years, no tears here - I quite enjoy the energy.

Happy to read the changes and updates coming, specially the AI - super helpful!

Also, I've had more of a pleasant experience than anything else here, just have seen lots of new folks get shot down and even buddies I have invited say they are done with bravado because of the aforementioned.

Thanks for taking the time, and keep the fire burning!

It has to be tough finding that balance so I give y’all kudos for diving into this. I love my time on WR. Are some people just farming and engaging with low value - sure. That same shit is on LinkedIn or anywhere you look. Y’all just keep doing what you do best and we’ll be here!

Excellent call on the commission changes. I really enjoy trying to bring value to those who have really solid questions, but it seems some days it’s like finding a post that isn’t garbage is pretty tough.

I do think creating something to notify others of when a convo has happened is the best way forward, not only does it de-clutter the home page but it will side step the negative comments.

We can be serious and discuss why duplicates and low-quality content upsets OGs of the community, but will that affect you in any way? No, you'll just keep doing what you do. I can't blame you, it's not your fault that there are no paid mods that help keep the forums and posts clean. Just the way it is for now.

That said, we have megathreads and older posts that have incredible content that you should dive into. If you don't see your answer there, then, by all means, get specific about your question/need for feedback and post a new thread. Tell people that you've exhausted your research and didn't see anything specific to your topic, and we'll likely help out if we know something about it.

I have been around the sales world going on 12 years. I have done every job from telemarketer to VP. I've worked at companies ranging from 2-20,000 people, and I've been pretty damn successful. I know a lot of shit, and I am happy to share that experience with all of you, but you have to ask serious questions, that have thought and quality behind them, to get serious answers that will help you with whatever you want to know.

TL;DR: We are here to help, but help us, help you.

I read it all. I always double check on the search bar and I tried getting specific but still idk, they get an itch and down vote. Again, speaking with empathy - I've seen a ton of folk just get shot down. I'm ok - I create a lot of quality content - just saying we need to make a change before the people that are engaging - shitty or otherwise, just stop. Thank you for taking the time.

Not whining, just shining a light on something that can really turn people off from this community. And yes I know, if those people leave, I guess the community would be better... but what does 25 reliable community members do for General Corps brand and business? Nothing - you need engagement in platforms like this to eventually be able to monetize - if you drive people away... well it'll look bearish.

No, not to the folks that don't find value in it - but that's not up to 3 people to decide. I see shit posts all the time, I just ignore and go engage with the ones that resonate with me.

Yeah, it's frustrating to post something looking for advice only to have someone comment to another post that's not really on topic. It happened to me when I was looking to see how people were utilzing a voicemail feature on salesloft.

Not the link to another post. But yeah, it was somewhat of a niche question. I was hoping to get voicemail tips/strategies in general. I don't know if the immediate link to a salesloft vs outreach slowed traction

I'm not saying they weren't or that it was malicious. I think people have overcorrected on the "reposting." I'm not saying this is the case, but I'd be a bit mad if something didn't get traction because a power user linked it somewhere else because it had the word "salesloft."

At the same time, it was admittedly niche. So maybe people just didn't care. But overall, I like bravado.

I agree with you that there are some subjects worth rehashing...the "OGs" in here tend to get pissed off with mindless Coffee vs Tea or iPhone vs Android polls because they add zero value.

I believe your post got less traction simply because it's niche. You're not one of the people posting bullshit either.

You say that you post valuable content that is not already on here, I just looked at some of your recent posts and half of them have been discussed at length since WR's inception.

I am far from an officer but I come here to find interesting discussions about sales and have a laugh or two at some of the ridiculous shit on there. However, I get frustrated when I have to sift through a bunch of lazy "Should I use a script or not" posts that have been covered ad nauseum on here.

Your credit card post for example was a good, insightful, well thought out post that adds to the community. However asking scripts are good when there are a bunch of threads on it already is clearly just "commish farming" as you put it. Add insightful stuff and you will get solid responses, post BS thats already been covered and you'll get lit up. Welcome to the war room.

Facts, although I asked use it or lose it (WHEN) in the comments. I saw the usual, its a good start but then get rid of it - what was not answered is "when" to get rid of it - I wanted a fresh perspective on that - given that it was discussed in April - I have brought over 10 people here since then... imagine all the other folks that invited folks - that's a lot of perspective - or is there a way to bring back an old post and add to it? Either way thanks, you're right.

I hear you, but from what I have read in responses to those types of posts, people say use it until you are comfortable and can make it your own. This is sales, there is never going to be a set timeline on when to go from script to freeform, and if you are genuinely curious on that subject, start replying to comments on old posts that you think make sense. There are easy ways to get the info you need without starting a thread on stuff you have already covered.

Might not earn you the commission but it will get you what you are looking for and create content for the rest of the community that is consolidated and easy to find for everyone.

I also think this will bring back those threads that are older which should be the goal, keep things searchable, but valuable and relevant for everyone on here.

I agree with a lot of what Sahil said here. I don’t think that the people on here want to create a negative community. Sales is rough and there’s likely days where you’re ready to take anyone’s head off and where better than in an anonymous place that you won’t get blowback for it. This forum is in its beginning stages and there’s a ton that is going to benefit all of us from being here. I don’t have a problem with people being negative in here because it doesn’t impact me at the end of the day. I’d rather put our professional advice and send positive vibes out into this community and hope others also do the same. @JC10X i think this post has value and in the same breath I’d highly recommend to share feedback but also in a constructive manner and offer a solution. May your sales be plentiful this Q!

Also @funcoupons and others that are called out on here have contributed some great professional advice and taken some time to be genuine in this community. Again we’re all probably dealing with the negatives associated with selling and come in here to blow some steam. I choose to take the good with the bad and hope to never take myself to seriously.

I like both the feedback that JC highlights and the answer from Sahil, but I like your perspective the most    @Justatitle

When I check the latest posts, I've seen mostly rants around repeated posts and stuff, but even from the people that complain about comish farming, or the ones that actually embrace comish farming, I've been able to find some golden advice.

We can change the rules and improve things, but there will always be a degree of noise, but like you, I just try to squeeze the good and move on.

It's like trying to complain about your facebook feed and whatnot... good luck trying to improve what people post on FB, just use it for what you can get from it and move on.
