Best credit cards for travel expenses?

i looked in the search bar and i only saw ppl talking about how to handle credit card debt or building credit.

i dont care about that.

I will doing more travel this year than ever (but still not as many of you savages). Flights, hotels, meals and ubers mainly.

Im looking for a credit card that gives the most rewards for those types of purchases. I want to use the points/ milage to buy flights or hotel stays.

Im looking at:

- Capital One Venture X

-Capital One Venture

-Chase sapphire Preferred

-Citi premier card

Leaning towards the Venture X but wanted to see if yall think im missing something?

Amex Platinum
Chase Sapphire Reserve

Those two, maybe even combined as a Gold+Reserve combo, is the best bang for the buck. Call me your Point Guard.

I personally am upgrading Gold to Platinum because Iโ€™m taking a few international trips in the next 18 months with an infant. The lounge access with a baby in tow is what will likely save my sanity on one of the legs due to a long layover.

Another AMEX platinum vote. For the airport clubs, the other amenities and free HULU & Disney+

Rather than upgrading the Gold to Plat you - will get more points with a sign-up bonus by just getting the Plat separately. Unless you've had the Plat with a sign-up bonus in the last two years.

I love my Amex Blue Cash Preferred. Cashback on so many things, as well as rental insurance and other perks.

Depends on where you live and what youโ€™re trying to accumulate.

The BEST would probably be one of the AMEXs.

But I would also check out www.ThePointsGuy.com

AMEX Platinum. Period. Takes the general admission out of travel. I hear Chase Safire is equally good, but I'm loyal. Member since 1832

๐Ÿ˜‚ damn canโ€™t beat that but I feel the same about my loyalty to Chase. Itโ€™s like why canโ€™t there be a decent cable/internet company out there that earns loyalty the way CC companies can!

Does that accumulate interest every day? I have the Amex Hilton rewards card and it does. Thatโ€™s another reason why Iโ€™m switching i need one that applies interest only if i keep a balance at the end of the month

It does not. Pay within 30 and done. They call it a โ€œcharge cardโ€ officially. Assuming your expenses will be reimbursed within a few weeks, youโ€™ll never run into trouble. I recently lost the travel part of the gig and had no reason to pay the fat fee. So I cancelled it. Donโ€™t miss the travel. Do miss the card. It sent me, wife and kid to NYC to stay 3 nights in a $500/night room, bought 3 Yankees Tix, flew us both ways and fed us well. Out of pocket was like $80. Took 2 years to get the points, but weโ€™ll worth saving them for.

Wise point peeps will tell you that whichever card you choose, just use one.

Once youโ€™ve got airline status, the cardโ€™s 5x points make it pretty sweet. They add up fast from both sources

Might be worth a call to Amex, just saying they usually make some insane offers

You can get the bouns on each Amex card, doesn't matter if you already have a separate branded card.

Sapphire; I also had a United club card when I traveled a lot. Being able to step into an airline club at the airport takes SO much stress off travel. You have to travel enough to make the cost worth it but when you do itโ€™s amazing.

Amex BCP - 6% cash back on groceries and streaming, 3% on transit and gas, 1% on everything else. They also offer rental insurance on loss and damage, and so many other perks I can't list. LMK if you want a referral code ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Best service Iโ€™ve ever had from a card, especially with any issues internationally. 5x points with Lyft, love being able to transfer points anywhere I want. I tend to take 2 vacations a year on points alone (luckily no company Cc so I get to keep allll those biz travel points to myself).

If the biggest thing is miles, why not get the Airline card you fly the most?
TennisandSales

Because idk if i want to be tied to just one airline, and i want to be able to use the miles for hotels as well. I didnโ€™t think Iโ€™d get that flexibility with an airline card

I use a combination of Chase Sapphire Preferred and Amex Reserve.

You can build up points like crazy on Chase, but as a predominant Delta flyer, I almost always get upgraded, get access to the lounge, and have great travel perks (like car rental coverage) with the Amex.

I like Gemini's credit card because I get bitcoin back. 3% for eating out and I got 10% for gas for a little while. Earned a lot of Bitcoin from buying fossil fuels๐Ÿ˜Ž
