Not a bad idea Meech, but I don't mind off topic threads when they're actually interesting. The useless niche stuff or people all fuckin slap happy just posting into the void can be filtered into oblivion tho.
2 techniques work well for me Conditional
Technique - When the other person offers an objection, make it a
condition of resolving their objection that they make the purchase.
You can also use this approach to make any trade - for
example, if you want them to watch a promotional video, offer a cup of coffee.
Always, phrase it in the form 'If I...will you...' rather
than 'Will you...if I...'. This is because our brains work very quickly and
starting with 'will you' causes them to begin thinking immediately about
objections and they may miss the exchange. On the other hand, starting with 'If
I...' will cause psychological closure on what you are offering thus drawing
them into the close.
If I can lower the CPI price, will you still be interested?
If I get you a proactive proposal based on a dummy brief,
would you like to sit down and look through it?
Technique - When people object, turn them around by using what they say
to prove that they are wrong.
Use their own arguments like a boomerang, so they go around
in a circle and come back to persuade them.
Yes, it is expensive, but your sample is hard to reach and I
challenge you to find a cheaper option
How it works
By using what they say, you are saying that they are right.
And when you attach what you want to what they say, then by association, what
you want is right.
Love these techniques as you were explaining them, I was
thinking or objections and then the "what" I should have studied
psychology for sure! appreciate this super tip! wish I could upvote you twice!!
Alright summarizing these long comment threads, here is what we got for the next town hall: 1) Option to filter feeds based on personal preference? 2) Possible post limit per day 3) Possible probationary period for new members 4) Possible Mod/AI review of posts with common keywords
Edits: 1) Minimum member commission limit required to make a post 2) Character minimum on comments 3) Pin PBCs video tutorial
I almost feel like having a minimum commission in place to create new threads is a good idea. I know other forums do it.
New members have to get 50 commission before they're allowed to start new topics - would force them to start participating in threads and getting a feel for what goes on here. I guess people could game the system by just posting "this" and "yeah" on a bunch of shit but it might help the situations where new members enter and create eight new polls in an hour.
sooo make less rewards for more work? post limits will reduce long term viability for sure how do you get the minimum commission limit if you cant get commissioned video is always dope.
feed filters are a great idea or notification filters or maybe an option to "see fewer posts like these"
probation periods kill membership platforms you will not get the engagement or longevity you're looking for if you mute their momentum. this isn't a job and they don't need to be managed. don't stop the content creation just allow for the curation of view.
maybe have a passive-aggressive micromanager option where they can ocd over controlling every little useless detail in their life so they can just get the posts they agree with and never have to see an opposing opinion. like facebook does with politics. pretty sure I saw an algorithm for that somewhere. hmm
If someone is trying to treat this place like a money printing machine they should be ostracized...I'm willing to bet that giving shit away for free for zero value offered is not what Sahil/Corp had in mind when creating the WR.
You can still earn commission from replying to existing posts and gaining upvotes so it's not like I'm suggesting that new users should not allowed to participate.
The issue isn't dissenting opinions - there's been a ton of lively debate in here. The issue is low effort garbage posts that aren't useful or funny.
rising tides lifts all boats brotha reward the good ignore the bad and soon they won't even be able to cut through the noise of quality. let the upvote and downvotes do it's job.
and literally defining value v trash is a measurement of dissenting opinions, just as this conversation is lol love the irony. all I'm saying is don't put effort into stoping them let the system do its job. with notification filtering and feed filters I don't see the need for anything beyond that, like are yall gunna open a zuckerberg jail and have mods waste time looking for trolls no let's just focus on more better faster soon and drown own the dumb. let the new kids learn what the standard is let them make mistakes, I learned cuz one post got downvoted to oblivion before I even responded to the first comment lol. let them fail forward
i would love to filter my notifications not just by category but also if its a comment or a like... don't need to see the likes I just wanna know who replied. and I know its risky but if we could open our own threads only available through our profiles I think that would be fantastic
honestly their fantastic, 2 years ago when I was part of the convo they where doing custom pricing based on current revenue all negotiated live ended at 2500 up front 14 bucks a license for 10 seats monthly. that was before covid tho
