Best Gong alternative?

First things first: I had Gong at my last company and I loved it and would hand them my money today if I could, but it's not in the budget and I'm not the decision maker

We have $5000 to spend and each member of our sales team was asked how we'd spend it.

We're all remote permanently, scattered across the entire US and UK and we're onboarding an SDR and an AE into a vertical that they haven't sold into previously as it's niche so I've pitched (and believe we need) a call recording/transcription/coaching solution, but we'd need to license:

  • 4 SDRs
  • 2 AEs
  • 2 sales managers, EMEA and US
  • CPO
  • CEO

for a grand total of 10 licenses

Y'all know of any "good enough" alternatives that might be in budget for us, or do I make a case to shell out the money on Gong?

I heard Chorus is a worthy competitor but don’t have any firsthand experience with it.

We've enjoyed AVOMA. They have a really solid feature set for their free tier, as well as some of their lower-level licenses (good for execs).

Unfortunately, I think you're going to have to spend more money. There aren't a ton of options for 5k

Even so, options comparable to Gong?

The $5000 was somewhere between a hypothetical and the actual number my manager was cleared to spend so as long as I don't ask for something 3x the budget there's hope lol

A suuuuuuper basic tool that I've heard is ok is refract. they're UK based and something like $50/seat/month. Chorus is cheaper than Gong but not in the range of 10 seats for 5K

The way I used to do this is to develop a 'target' account list with the AE. Companies who we want to work with. Then we split up this target account sheet between the SDRs and would A/B test tactics. Usually for about 2 weeks to determine what works best. Continuously optimize.
