Do the right things when no one is watching. Work hard in the areas that matter, not where they do not (i.e. closing deals, not updating the CRM). Provide feedback and ideas to create a better future to the team. Bring infectious energy at every team meeting. Recruit proactively to support the growth of the company. Clarification: I am not against updating the CRM, but it really is just for management overlords, not the reps, and should not be regarded or confused as a priority for reps. A good sales rep proactively updates their management as updates become available.

I always look for former athletes. They know how to show up everyday and work, they have likely heard criticism before and can keep pushing forward. Some of the biggest challenges I've had is great sales people shutting down after having a negative call or experiencing failure, while most athletes have experienced defeat and still know how to dust themselves off and get ready to get beat down again.ย
