"Best time of day to call" "Best time of day to email" We've seen the statistics on this, but in your opinion, does it really matter?

Do you specifically time your outreach? Or are you the kind of person who thinks "well that's what everyone else does and I want to be different?"

Do you care about the best time of day to call/email?

So I'm a bit of a nihilist when it comes to... well a lot of things, one being timing of emails/calls.

Here's my thought process: someone says that 10:07am on Tuesdays is the best time to send emails. So every single SDR starts sending all their emails at 10:07am on Tuesdays. Now every DM gets 1000 emails at 10:07am on Tuesdays. They delete them all, knowing they can't get through 1000 emails. One SDR forgot to queue up their emails and sends them all out at 11:44am on Wednesday. They get a 100% reply rate because it's the only email their recipient gets that day. All of a sudden, everyone realizes that 11:44am on Wednesdays is the best time to send emails. Rinse, repeat.

Are there better times to send emails and make calls? Sure. Don't cold call at 7:45pm on Friday. Is there a definitive best time to send emails/make calls? I don't think so.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

This was my thought exactly- if every rep is scheduling emails to arrive at 9am the next day, then your prospect gets a block of emails that they then mass delete, but outreach platforms always show 'time of day' data as if it's a key insight into getting a high reply rate. Thanks for commenting!

I’ll be honest, i’ve heard some interesting stats around this but haven’t gone too deep into this rabbit hole but I would be inclined to believe there is legitimacy of timing emails strategically.

I'm sure there's something to it. I used to know a guy who would swear by scheduling his emails to arrive at 9pm at night because he wanted to be the only person emailing at that time, but how much of it is real and how much is superstition?

Hard to say, I suppose.

If you call in the morning right when your senior levels get in, before their gatekeepers, you have a better chance of getting them. Same as the end of the day. Executives work longer hours (usually.)

Before the pandemic, it was common in our office to call around 5:30-6:00pm on there way out the office. You have to have some massive balls for this technique because they often had a fit but the rate of answers increased dramatically.

Eh it depends?

Sometimes I have better luck after 5 pm, sometimes I don't.

How many times will you call a prospect after they don't answer the first time? At what frequency? I typically don't make a lot of repeat calls, just call with volume consistently and try to catch folks at the right time...
