Best way to find a new job?

Hey everyone,

I was wondering what the best way to find a new job is:

. Platforms such as LinkedIn and the likes? General online work forums?

. Networking AF with potential employers or employees? Attend online/in-person events?

. Pursuing further education and trying after that?

Message the VP Sales at the companies you want to sell for and explain why you love their product / want to sell for them.

You're in sales right... go sell. :)

During COVID, I'd say using a recruiter to drum up leads is a good way to go. In normal times, LinkedIn and your personal network to set up as many 'coffees' as possible. The best job opps are the ones you find that aren't even posted yet.

Thanks for the advice!

I agree that coffee chats are a winner (when in-person) so using a recruiter is a very good idea.

I agree with Hotsaw, pro help is great.

Canvassing your network is key too, the old your network is your net worth adage plays so well in sales.

I totally agree. Taking care of your network is vital.

Do you believe in online events to meet people who may help you?

I feel like the idea sounds great on paper, but it isn't easy to execute. It does not feel the same talking to someone face-to-face as it does from a screen.

Linkedin works but sometimes you end up doing hundreds of applications.

Feel you there. LinkedIn may work better if you connect/follow recruiters or team managers who post openings in the company, for example.

I'd say that you build your network on LI around the industry you want to work in and use referrals that have open job reqs that you have connections to.

Yes, that's also right. I tried to get some of my friends to get me a referral at their companies, but apparently, it doesn't work that well for some internships.

However, I heard it works miracles for senior positions!

Best time to look for a new job is when you don't need one.  I like to hit up 5 people a week I haven't heard from in a while.  I say Hi and I see how they are doing.  I don't ask them for anything.  re-ignite old relationships and seek out 1-2 new ones a month.

Linkedin and reach out to the VP, Director etc. Recruiting is time-consuming this way just help the VP with that.
Connect and ask for a quick call to understand more about the company, product, and why you are curious about the product.
If there is match, they will 100 % ask about your next career path.

Network and make that a networth
Easier said than done. Requires 3-4 months. But if it's urgent, job sites and referrals could help

Keeping an open mind and accepting every interview that comes your way even if you don't want it. At the least, you will gain practice on how to crush an interview.

The best job I’ve had came when I wasn’t even looking, if you want something though VPs welcome you reaching out through LinkedIn to connect to them and learn. Go for it
