Best way to quit/resign a role?

Question savages, might be departing to pastures greener next week.

Been at the company for 6 months, just role isn't right for my skillset. Good peeps otherwise.

Been remote since I joined so more of a pain to book time in someone's calendar.

Call your boss, have the one on one, then send your notice to them in writing via email.

Call your boss, tell them why and be honest and  professional.

No point in doing anything else. Email is a last resort if you can’t get them on the phone.

Agreed. Phone call and follow up with a formal resignation by email.

What I’d like to do:

send a sympathy card saying “sorry for your loss” on the front - handwritten by me on the inside, “it’s me.”

what I would actually do:

whatever the lawyer at my new job tells me to do.

Never burn bridges. Call them. Up to you if you want to do video or phone, I prefer phone call cause it’s quicker and less awkward than on a video call.

kidding <3 don't do that. Quitting a job is never fun, but you can make it better by being honest yet kind and professional, giving at least a 2 week notice, and leaving with grace. I gave my notice in during my one-on-one with my boss and then followed the chat with a formal email stating my last day.

Good luck!

ALWAYS follow up with an official email after the call / Zoom / meeting. I have more than one friend that never put their resignation in writing and HR made them work their full months notice period from the date of the email NOT from when they told their manager. One buddy ended up having his offer rescinded from his prospective employer as a result.
