Biggest difference between sales in the US and in Europe?

We have this running joke in our (European) office that people in America cannot wait to answer their next cold call.

In all seriousness, with the same amount of emails, calls and LinkedIn messages and with similar content, our US team gets a foot in the door with more companies. Are they just better sales people or is there a big difference in openness to new ideas/solutions.

What other differences do you see in sales on both sides of the pond?

Easier to get meetings with Europeans. I've had them take meetings with me just so they could meet and talk to someone new. Americans are jerks with no time. so biggest difference is Europeans are actually nice people lol.

Thatโ€™s wild to me because I had the exact opposite experience. People in EMEA were way more receptive to accepting a meetingย

I find selling into the American markets a lot more fast paced and 'easier' than in England. But then again, maybe as there are way more people in American doing sales roles that people just kind of get used to answering their phone or replying to emails and it isn't seen as a negative thing like it is here.ย

It's nice that you have experience with selling into both markets. Which market do you prefer?

It depends, The market in the UK (for what I sell) is a very slow sales cycle whereas the sales cycle in the US seems to be very fast but not always a long-lasting deal if that makes sense! I actual love selling to the Irish as they are always keen to have a good laugh!ย

I've had plenty of people in the U.S very unhappy with me for cold calling them, but I've also had people who were very receptive. Though in general, I've found calling Canadians to be the most pleasant. Never called into Europe๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”
